Hyderabad: Inspections by the state task force on Saturday highlighted violations in two establishments in the city, while a raid in a dairy shop in Jangaon found 700 kg of curd infested with fungus and a dead lizard near food products. The task force found Poshnoosh Lounge & Bar at Jubilee Hills was operating with an licence which had lapsed on December 20, 2024. The task force flagged the condition of the kitchen as unsanitary, with refrigerators improperly cleaned and not defrosted. The kitchen lacked a proper drainage system to dispose of food waste, and there was an opening to the outside without a window or insect-proof screen, raising concerns about contamination. The restaurant also violated food safety standards by improperly storing food, including mixing vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, and placing food directly on the ground. Expired and misbranded sichuan oepper, imported from Bangkok without import details, was seized. The inspection also flagged the presence of industrial-use citric acid and several expired food products, such as soy sauce, papad, rasam powder, onion powder, kajun mix, mushrooms, and packed methi. In addition, loose split cashews were found to be infested with insects, posing a further risk to consumer health. At Kishkindha Kitchen, also in Jubilee Hills, which lacked essential documents, the refrigerators were found to be dirty and filled with food waste, while kitchen drains were clogged with waste. Raw food materials, semi-prepared items, and non-food products were stored together, increasing the likelihood of cross-contamination.Cockroaches were found in the kitchen and rat feces in the storage area, suggesting a rodent infestation. The task force also uncovered expired food items here, including orange juice, button mushrooms, sunflower seeds, and packed rai, which were discarded.Key documents such as water analysis reports, pest control records, FSSAI certificates (Fostac), and employee medical records were not provided to the inspection team at both establishments. Both FBOs were issued notices for immediate rectification. At Shakti Milk and Milk Products, located in Raghunathpally, Jangaon district, an inspection revealed a dead lizard found near food articles. The presence of houseflies and mosquitoes in stored ghee was noted. Spider webs were seen on the roof and patchy roofing and flooring in cold storage room. The task force discarded 720 kg of curd due to contamination, fungal infestation, and spoilage. Additionally, 1,700 kg of curd was seized due to labelling violations and suspicions of substandard quality. Samples from the facility were collected for laboratory analysis to assess the quality of the products.
