Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri police on Wednesday booked a man for beating up a lineman for disconnecting his power supply for defaulting bill payments. The incident occurred when the junior lineman cut off electricity supply to a residence in RTC Colony due to unpaid bill of Rs 1,585. The consumer was enraged by the power supply disconnection and confronted the lineman leading to the clash.According to the FIR filed by the assistant engineer, M. A. Rahman, resident of House No 43-346/8, Dr Krishna Nagar in RTC Colony, assaulted Kuam Suresh, 34. He also damaged his vehicle. Suresh was subjected to abusive language during the altercation.The incident happened in the morning hours when the worker was carrying out his duties of routine disconnections.The complaint said the bill had been pending for over two months, and the consumer had been informed about the outstanding payment. Despite reminders, he did not make the payments.Based on the complaint, a case was registered under multiple sections, including voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.An investigation was initiated and the authorities are reviewing evidence including CCTV footage to gather more information.
