Hyderabad: A man was arrested by the Jubilee Hills police on the charges of blackmailing a TV actress. The 29-year-old victim, a native of West Godavari district, who stays with her children at a rented house, in a complaint to the police alleged that accused Bathula Phani Teja who met her during the shooting of a TV serial in September last year, proposed her for marriage. But she refused the proposal. Thereafter, accused Phani started sending her obscene videos on her WhatsApp.Fed up with this, the victim blocked the WhatsApp number of Phani. Somehow, the accused managed to get the address of the victim and started visiting her place. The accused also informed the victim’s aunt and indulged in character assassination of the victim, police sources said.Police, after obtaining technical data from the victim’s mobile phone, arrested Phani on Thursday. The accused was booked for sending obscene videos to the victim, blackmailing and character assassination. He was produced before the court and sent on judicial remand.
