Make Telangana number one in cyber safety in India, says Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy here on Tuesday said the State Government was committed to make Telangana number one in cyber safety in the country. Participating as a chief guest at SHIELD 2025, a premier cyber security conclave organized by Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB), Cyberabad police, and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) at HICC here, he said that he was delighted to meet all police officers and cyber security experts who have been working together to promote Telangana number one in cyber safety. He said that statistics disclosed that cyber criminals looted Rs.22,812 crore in the country last year and the cybercrime posed a big threat to the country’s economy as well as the citizens. The fake news has become another big threat these days. Misinformation on social media was creating chaos in the society, he said. Stating that the State government was providing required assistance and resources to work with cyber experts and IT companies to create an ecosystem for the development of cyber security solutions, he said that Telangana should be developed as a secure business hub. Appealing to all to share 1930 cyber helpline number which works round-the-clock, Revanth Reddy said Telangana was one among a few States which established a fully functioning cyber security bureau and a dedicated cyber crime helpline to protect citizens from cyber frauds and crimes. He said that the State government has started seven new dedicated cyber crime police stations last year and extended congratulations to Director-General of Police, Dr Jitender and the TGCSB Director Shikha Goel, who were also present on the occasion, for setting up these facilities. “Let us all work together to make Telangana a cyber safe State,” he said. The Chief Minister further stated that the cyber security conclave was significant and noteworthy and added that the crime pattern has been changing rapidly and there was a need to device all kinds of plans to encounter the challenges facing the society. “Telangana is at the forefront in controlling cybercrime in the country and there is a need to strengthen the cybercrime wing further,” he said. The Chief Minister said the prevention of crime should be given top priority before the arrest of criminals after they committed a crime. ‘Some people are spreading fake news on social media. Need to curb economic crimes and fake news. Let us make Telangana a role model for the country in controlling cyber crime,” he said. The conclave was organized to discuss digital safety and to prepare future action plans.
