Tirupati: In a swift operation, forest staff successfully trapped a leopard in a cage set up on the Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) campus, where it had been sighted roaming for several days. The big cat, which had caused unease among students and locals, was captured after it ventured near the SVU student hostels and the Dev Lok premises on Zoo Park Road. The presence of the leopard also disrupted commuters and residents along the Alipiri and Zoo routes, raising safety concerns in the area.Following its capture, a veterinary doctor examined the leopard and confirmed that it was in good health. Subsequently, the forest department staff released the animal into a forest area, ensuring its safe return to the wild. The successful operation brought relief to students, locals, and commuters who had been on edge due to the leopard’s movements. Authorities remain vigilant to prevent similar incidents in the future.
