Land dispute led to attack on BRS mayor’s husband

Nizamabad:Nizamabad municipal mayor Neethu Kiran’s husband, BRS leader Dandu Chandrasekhar, was injured in an attack by an auto driver in Nizamabad. The incident occurred on Monday over a land dispute issue. Injured Chandrasekhar was admitted in a private hospital, where his condition is said to be stable. According to sources, Sheik Rasool, an auto driver, attacked Chandrasekhar near 80 quarters in Nagaram. Allegedly, the followers of the mayor encroached land belongs to Sheik Rasool and it led to attack on Dandu Chandrasekhar. The accused beaten up and later attacked with a hammer on the mayor’s husband. The entire attack was filmed by passersby and it went viral on social media. Accused Sheik Rasool said that his plot in Nagaram area encroached by the followers of mayor.After the attack, Rasool released a video clip on social media saying that Dandu Chandrasekhar demanded Rs 2 lakh to settle the land dispute. Being an auto driver, I am unable to pay a huge amount and attacked Chandrasekhar in frustration, he said. He urged the Congress party leaders to protect his land and protect it from the BRS leaders.Meanwhile, police formed special teams and took into custody the attacker Sheik Rasool on Tuesday. Mayor’s husband Dandu Chandrasekhar was recently bound over by the Nizamabad commissionerate police for his alleged involvement in smuggling of gravel in Nagaram area. On the other hand, former Nizamabad urban BRS MLA Bigala Ganesh Gupta condemned the attack on the mayor’s husband. He visited the victim at a private hospital in Nizamabad on Tuesday.
