Hyderabad: The state government on Tuesday announced a one-month extension of tenure of the Justice P.C. Ghose commission of inquiry into the damage to the three Kaleshwaram project barrages of Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla. The commission is reported to be preparing its report and had sought an additional month to complete the work. On Tuesday, G. Anil Kumar, engineer-in-chief (general) of the irrigation department, was at the commission’s office and handed over to Justice Ghose a copy of the report on the barrages sent to the government by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA). Justice Ghose had previously said that the NDSA findings, along with findings of a probe by the state’s vigilance & enforcement wing, would be of assistance in preparation of his report. It may be recalled that over the last one year, the commission had cross-examined many irrigation department, and several senior government officials who either had a direct, or an indirect role in various aspects of the planning, construction and later use of the barrages.
