Kharge slams Amit Shah’s remarks on Ambedkar, demands apology, resignation by midnight



Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday condemned Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar during a debate in the Rajya Sabha, alleging that they were casteist and insulting to the Dalit icon.Addressing a press conference, Kharge criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for defending Shah’s comments, claiming they reflected adherence to Manusmriti principles rather than the Indian Constitution.Kharge accused the BJP, including PM Modi and Amit Shah, of upholding the values of Manusmriti over those of the Constitution. He alleged that the remarks insulted not only Dr Ambedkar but also Dalits and the citizens of India.Demanding accountability, Kharge called for Amit Shah’s resignation and a public apology from both Shah and PM Modi. He urged the Prime Minister to ensure Shah steps down by midnight to demonstrate respect for the Constitution.(More updates to follow)
