BENGALURU: Demanding steps from the Union Government to enhance security measures in Jammu and Kashmir to restore peace there, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday stated he was not in favour of war with Pakistan over Pahalgam terror attacks which claimed 26 lives of tourists.“There is no need to wage a war against Pakistan,” asserted the Chief Minister while talking to media persons in Mysuru city but steps are needed from the Union Government to tighten security in Jammu and Kashmir.Meanwhile, he said, as per the directions of the Union Government, steps have been initiated to identify Pakistani nationals staying in Karnataka and measures will be taken to make them return to their country. “Information has been gathered on Pakistani nationals staying in various parts of the State and in particular Bengaluru city,” he said.Siddaramaiah pointed to the Union Government admitting ‘security lapse’ over Pahalgam terror attack and said the Union Government should have increased security where tourists’ congregations are more.The Chief Minister pointed to the Pulwama attack in Jammu and Kashmir, a couple of years back, where as many as 40 soldiers were killed and the Pulwama terror attack was also owing to ‘security lapse’ then.Criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his absence at the all-party meet on Pahalgam terror attack, Siddaramaiah said “It seems that election rallies are of utmost importance to the Prime Minister.” He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should have conducted the all-party meet on the Pahalgam terror attack and alleged “Prime Minister is trying to fool the people of the country.”
