Kaleshwaram Temple EO Suspended Over Sanctum Sanctorum Filming Row

Warangal: The endowments department has suspended Maruthi, the executive officer of the Mukteshwara Swamy temple in Kaleshwaram, following widespread outrage over the filming of a private song by singer Madhu Priya inside the temple’s sanctum sanctorum. The incident occurred a week ago when Madhu Priya and her crew entered the innermost chamber of the temple to film a devotional song, violating strict rules that prohibit photography and videography in such sacred spaces. The act sparked severe criticism from devotees, who condemned the misuse of the sanctum sanctorum for non-religious purposes. The controversy erupted while the temple EO, Maruthi, and superintendent Srinivas and the main priests, was away in Sringeri, inviting the Peetadhipathi for the upcoming Kumbh Abhishekam event at the temple. The temple management clarified that no permission had been granted for the shoot.Upon learning of the incident, Maruthi reportedly issued a notice to temple priest Rama Krishna, who was on duty during the filming. However, protests led by BJP and Hindu organisation leaders outside the temple intensified demands for accountability. In response, the endowments department issued orders suspending Maruthi. To stabilise the situation, Mahesh, a former EO of the Kaleshwaram temple, has been reinstated. Mahesh, who was currently serving as the EO of the Kodavatancha temple, will now oversee operations at Mukteshwara Swamy temple.
