Tirupati: Chittoor district police arrested a 34-year-old individual on Sunday for allegedly killing his 18-month-old son. The incident occurred late on Friday night at Diguvamasapalli village in Chittoor district.According to sub-inspector Venkata Subbamma, the incident occurred on Friday night in the home of Pradeep (34), who had been living with a woman from Krishnapuram village near Madhavaram in Thavanampalle mandal. The woman, previously married to a man from Jangalapalli in Irala mandal, had separated from her husband three years ago and moved to Diguvamasapalli, where she began cohabiting with Pradeep.The couple had a son, now 18 months old. Recently, the mother started working at a poultry farm. On Friday night, Pradeep reportedly returned home under the influence of alcohol. When the infant began crying, Pradeep, in a fit of rage, allegedly slammed the child to the ground, causing fatal injuries.In an attempt to cover up his actions, Pradeep tried to stage the incident as an accidental fall from the house. However, suspicious family members, including the woman’s brother, alerted the local police. Upon investigation, the police registered a case and arrested Pradeep for the murder of his infant son.Four Minors Run Away from Home Due to Parental RestrictionsVijayawada: The scolding from parents over their children returning home late from school or restricting their use of mobile phones were as the two main reasons why four minor children recently ran away from their home in Bhavanipuram area here on Friday, the police have said.The four minors — three girls and a boy — left their home for school in the morning and then ran away. Following this, the parents filed a missing complaint with the Bhavanipuram police. Special teams were formed by the police to search for them.“They were traced at Secunderabad railway station some six hours after receiving the complaint” CI Uma Maheswara Rao said on Sunday. The girl was an intermediate student while the three boys were Class VIII students.“The four went to Guntur and from there they boarded a train to Secunderabad and disembarked there,” he said.The investigation teams analysing the CCTV footage found that the four boarded a Secunderabad-bound train and alerted the police personnel there. This led to their brief detention there. “They were brought here and handed over to their parents,” police said. The parents and the four children were given necessary counselling and their statements were recorded, police added.Head constable suspended for alleged briberyVisakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam police commissioner Sankha Brata Bagchi suspended a head constable from the Harbor Police Station’s crime wing on Sunday. The constable is accused of accepting a bribe from a lorry driver during his night patrol on Saturday. A bystander witnessed the incident and filmed the constable collecting the money. The video was then sent directly to the commissioner’s mobile phone. After verifying the footage, commissioner Bagchi immediately suspended the head constable. He also expressed gratitude to the civilian for their vigilance and issued a stern warning to all police personnel. The commissioner emphasised strict disciplinary action for any officer found involved in unlawful activities.
