Bhopal: The historic Minto Hall, rechristened as Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre, here on Sunday turned into a classroom for the BJP lawmakers with Prime Minister Narendra Modi tutoring them how to remain connected with their respective constituents ‘round-the-year’.Mr Modi who began a two-day tour to Madhya Pradesh in the afternoon was seen moving from table to table where MLAs and MPs, besides some senior party leaders, were seated, sharing tips with them on how to connect with the people and win their confidence.“The lawmakers must realize that they are ‘jan sevaks’ (public servants), and should behave like a ‘jan sevak’. They should endeavour to be a good political person by being accessible to the people in all situations to solve their problems”, he told them.Mr. Modi also tipped them off on how to keep in touch with the people in their respective constituencies regularly.“Open offices in different parts of the constituencies and make it a point to visit the offices regularly to acquaint yourself with people’s issues and take measures to resolve them”, he was quoted as saying to the BJP lawmakers by a BJP MP.The PM also asked BJP lawmakers and leaders to be down-to-earth.“The PM made us feel like our guardian by giving valuable tips on how to become a good lawmaker”, a BJP MLA told this newspaper while emerging from the convention Centre.No mobile phone or any electronic gadget was allowed into the Centre and the media’s entry into the venue of the meeting was also barred.All the 163 BJP MLAs, 36 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members of the party from Madhya Pradesh and some BJP leaders attended the ‘Paathsala’ (classroom) of Mr Modi.Later, Mr. Modi had dinner with them.The PM is scheduled to inaugurate the two-day Global Investors Summit (GIS) here on Monday before winding up his tour to MP.
