Hyderabad: The HYDRAA will soon acquire powers of a police station, allowing it to serve notices and book criminal cases against the accused. According to the officials of HYDRAA, they are working in coordination with the district task force of collectorates, urban local bodies (ULBs) and other departments to execute its enforcement activity i.e. demolitions. “The duration mentioned in the demolition notice is by the department that serves the notice. When we are identifying an encroachment, we are asking the property owner to voluntarily remove it, failing to which we are coordinating with line departments and demolishing it following all the procedures,” said an official from HYDRAA. The HYDRAA has written to the state government, seeking additional 3,500 employees as its jurisdiction has expanded. “Our jurisdiction is getting expanded to 2,500 square km from the current 2,000 square km. We will also strengthen our disaster management force (DRF) teams and procure additional disaster rescue equipment, safety items and uniforms,” said the official.
