Hyderabad: Schools across the city declared holiday on Tuesday after Heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms lashed the city last evening.Commuters were caught unawares as there was a sudden downpour across Hyderabad on Monday night leading to traffic snarls. Because of the pothole ridden roads and congestion, traffic moved at a snail’s pace leading to commuters being stranded on roads for hours last night. Secunderabad, Kukatpally and hitec city were worst hit as the entire road was jammed till late hours into the night. As a precautionary measure, several schools across Hyderabad have extended the long weekend holiday till Wednesday. Schools were shut for Independence Day till Raksha Bandhan. Parents received a WhatsApp message from school about Tuesday being a non-working day in the interest of kids’ safety. Commuters have been advised to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary, Hyderabad has been put on alert for heavy rains and thunderstorms on Wednesday.
