Visakhapatnam: Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha on Wednesday visited the victims of the gas leak at a corporate hospital in Visakhapatnam. She promised the victims of their well-being and proper medical care.The leak occurred on Tuesday at Hetro Pharma company in the Nakkapalli region in Anakapalli district , and 12 affected workers were rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to Visakhapatnam corporate hospital.The minister told the media that sodium hypochlorite gas leaked at an industrial unit. Officials would initiate special measures for the safety of workers. A high-level safety committee will be formed for codifying industry safety protocols. “Industries in the state are well equipped to take immediate action in case of accidents,” she said.On law and order, the minister confirmed the arrest of a rowdy involved in an incident at KGH hospital. She asked officials to ensure CCTV cameras are functional in both government and private hospitals.Senior police officials are closely monitoring the activities of rowdies and efforts are underway for a crackdown against cannabis cultivation. Drones would be used to identify and destroy such cultivation, Anitha said.
