SC asks Centre to respond on rehab framework for trafficking victims

The Telangana High Court on Wednesday dismissed a quash petition filed by BRS former MLA Patnam Narender Reddy in which he sought to set aside the docket orders issued by the Magistrate Court in allowing his remand in the Lagcharla case. The court gave him liberty file the bail petition before the trial court and directed the trial court at Kodangal to decide on it on merits. Narender Reddy had approached the High Court complaining that the trial court did not follow the guidelines of Supreme court in the ‘DK Basu’ case, in allowing his judicial custody. He said that his name was arrayed as first accused in the confessional statements of others who were involved in the alleged attack. Without substantial evidence, the police had registered the case against him and arrested him and the trial court accepted the remand without following procedure, Narender Reddy claimed.
