Anantapur: A gang of robbers from Haryana has stolen Rs. 42 lakh from two ATMs in Kadapa and Vontimitta, while also attempting to raid another ATM in Kadapa headquarters early Sunday morning. Known for targeting ATM centers along NH roads in southern states, the gang employs a unique method using cutters and escapes in lorries to evade checkpoints. On Sunday alone, they attacked three ATM locations.The first robbery occurred at the Vontimitta ATM, where they used cutters to steal Rs. 36 lakh. They then moved to the Dwaraka Nagar ATM in Kadapa, taking an additional Rs. 6 lakh. The gang also attempted to loot the ATM at Visweswaraiah Circle in Kadapa.In response to these incidents, Kadapa police have heightened their alertness regarding the series of robberies in the district. They are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and have formed special teams to track down the gang based on available leads. Notably, Anantapur police recently dismantled an interstate gang involved in similar ATM thefts last month.
