Harshakumar Taken into Custody, Released

Kakinada: The East Godavari district police took Amalapuram former Lok Sabha member G. V. Harsha Kumar into custody on Saturday and released him the same night. Harsha Kumar had called for a candle rally to express concern over the death of Pastor Praveen Kumar and urged Christians to gather at the spot where Pastor Praveen Kumar died. Many Christians from various areas gathered in Rajamahendravaram on Saturday.The police took Harsha Kumar into custody in the afternoon. After his release, Harsha Kumar expressed anger over the police’s actions, stating that they had taken him in a jeep and driven around the city for five hours, causing unnecessary trouble. He claimed the programme he had organised was successful. Harsha Kumar further commented that the YSRC government, led by Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was far better than the present alliance government. He criticised the alliance government for releasing ₹30 crore to pastors, suggesting that they were attempting to divert attention from the issue of Pastor Praveen Kumar’s death.He also noted that when Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was in jail, he had consoled HRD Minister N. Lokesh, but both father and son had forgotten it. He remarked that Naidu was celebrating his birthday abroad instead of in the state.Meanwhile, Christians held a massive candle rally at the spot where Pastor Praveen Kumar died and raised slogans demanding the immediate release of Harsha Kumar. They also expressed their condolences for the death of Pastor Praveen Kumar.
