Guntur Civic Corporation to Organise Sankranti Sambaralu for Four Days

Vijayawada: In an innovative act, Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) is going to host the vibrant Sankranti Sambaralu at the NTR Stadium from January 12 to January 15, showcasing Telugu tradition and culture for the modern generation.Making an announcement in this regard on Tuesday, GMC commissioner Puli Srinivasulu unveiled a brochure of the celebrations along with Guntur West MLA Galla Madhavi and deputy mayor Sheikh Sajila at a press conference in Brindavan Gardens.”After the formation of the new government in the state, the Guntur Municipal Corporation is proud to conduct a grand celebration of Sankranti, which is one of the biggest festivals for the Telugu people,” said Srinivasulu. He underlined that the four-day event will highlight the richness of Telugu culture through a series of well-scheduled activities, including traditional games and competitions.MLA Galla Madhavi emphasised the significance of the Sankranti, noting that people from across the globe return to their hometowns to celebrate this festival. She said the event being organised will be memorable, which people will remember for at least the next five years.The celebrations will begin on January 12 with competitions in traditional artwork and henna for women and children. The following day will feature a welcome ceremony for VIPs, along with various cultural performances, tug-of-war and a range of traditional games.On January 14, Gangireddu and cows shows will be organised, apart from Karrasaamu, Kolatam, star musical night and so on. The Sankranti festivities will culminate with various forms of dances, music and art at a grand finale on January 15, which will also feature kite flying and a magic show.Additional commissioner Challa Obulesu and deputy commissioners D.
