Anantapur: In a major breakthrough, the Anantapur Police busted the “Dhar Gang” of Madhya Pradesh and recovered gold and diamond ornaments and cash, together worth Rs 90lakh, here on Sunday.The theft took place 18 days ago in the Srinagar Colony of Anantapur town. Teams led by SP Jagadish searched areas in and around the villages of Dhar district with the help of mobile signals and other technology. Police said, “This gang was the most wanted in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. The gang’s kingpin, Naru Pachavar, was involved in 32 cases in AP, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.” The police teams have cracked the theft cases from 3 Villas of Rajahansa Sweet Homes, Srinagar Colony, Anantapur, the SP said.The arrested members of the Dhar gang were Naru Pachavar, 35, Chad Wad village; Savan @ Santhiya Dudwe and Sunil, Pipaldia village, Dhar district. Two of the accused — Mohabath and Motla — were absconding. Police said 59 tholas of gold ornaments worth about Rs 90 lakh, diamond-studded gold ornaments worth Rs 19,35,000 and 3 motor cycles were recovered from the gang.The gang committed theft of gold, diamond-studded gold items and cash, together worth about Rs 2.13 crore from the locked houses of Siva Reddy, Ranjith Reddy and Shiva Shankar Naidu at Rajahansa Sweet Homes, Srinagar Colony, Anantapur town. The families were away when the thefts occurred.The Ananthapuramu 4th Town Police registered the cases. Police said, “The accused Naru Pachavar, Sawan and the absconding accused Mahabat and Motla left their hometown on January 16 with the intention of committing thefts. They took a bus to Indore and Itarsi. From there, they boarded a train to Salem, Tamil Nadu. Then they went to Dharmapuri, stole two bikes and returned via Bangalore on the same bikes towards Penukonda.”One of the bikes they were riding developed snags near Penukonda and they left it there. They stole a bike near Penukonda and reached Anantapur town in the early morning on January 21.”“The gang identified the locked houses of Shiva Reddy, Ranjith Reddy and Shiva Shankar Naidu in Rajahansa Sweet Homes Villas, Srinagar Colony, Anantapur. Naru Pachavar, Sawan, Mahabat and Motla broke the locks of the three Villas and entered the houses in the early hours of 21/22 January 21/12, and committed theft of gold, diamond jewellery and cash from those houses. After committing thefts, the gang went to Hyderabad on the stolen bikes and distributed the stolen property. The arrested accused Naru Pachavar and Sawan tried to sell the stolen property in Hyderabad but were unsuccessful.Subsequently, they tried to reach Bangalore, but could not. They contacted the receiver Ramesh of Madhya Pradesh over phone and asked him to buy the stolen valuables. For this purpose, Ramesh sent his son Sunil to meet and collect the stolen property from the gang. During this process, the SP received a tip-off. He formed teams of cops comprising Dy. SP Valluri Srinivasa Rao, CIs Sainath, Hemanth Kumar, Jayapal Reddy, SIs Ramprasad and Rajasekhar Reddy. Their searches led to the arrests near Royal Nagar in Anantapur town on Sunday. Meanwhile, Mahabat and Motla who participated in the Ananthapur thefts shared the stolen property with Naru Pachavar and Sawan in Hyderabad and then returned to their home town. Receiver Ramesh, father of Sunil, is absconding, police said.“Naru Pachavar and Mahabat are the main accused. They are brothers. They have three other brothers, who too are criminals and they are currently jailed in Hyderabad. Some 32 cases exist against Naru Pachavar in the states of Andhra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat,” police said.Police said, “There are 29 cases against Mahabat in four states. There are also cases against Sawan, Sunil and Motla. Sunil has 9 cases and his father Ramesh was involved in 34 cases in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Gujarat.”The Dhar gang is the most-wanted in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat states. Presently, the gang comprises 60 members, including the three who have been arrested and the two who are absconding.However, in each theft, five or six of these persons formed into a gang and committed house-brakes. All of them belong to remote villages under Tanda police station of Dhar district. They are basically agricultural labourers who also commit thefts. They mainly target locked houses, police said.“They do thefts during both day and night. They are habituated to vices,” police added.
