Hyderabad: The state government will offer free coaching to prepare government junior college students for competitive exams such as Eapcet, NEET, and JEE from the ongoing academic year. The department of intermediate education has been granted permission to conduct the coaching sessions. In addition, the government has established an academic guidance, training, and placement cell (AGTPC) within the department of intermediate education here. The cell is designed to support students and teachers in areas such as career guidance, training, placements, and the facilitation of academic planning and monitoring. The responsibilities of the cell include overseeing the preparation of academic calendars, conducting audits, monitoring content introduction, and organising student events at the college level. Emphasis has been placed on identifying students who may need additional academic support. The cell will also focus on career readiness, handling training programmes for teachers and students, coordinating job placement activities, and overseeing skill development initiatives through collaboration with industry and educational bodies like NSDC and PMKVY. The government will encourage industry-institute meetings, apprenticeship melas, and collaborative events to prepare students for the job market. The government has also sanctioned the deputation of junior lecturers and technical support staff to the AGTPC until permanent arrangements are made. A key aspect of this initiative is capacity building, with a particular focus on teacher training and faculty development programmes.
