He elaborated that with its straightforward taxation system, including five per cent VAT and nine per cent corporate tax on profits exceeding AED 3.75 lakh, is was the ideal place to start a company. Murty & Associates stressed the importance of aligning investments with international regulatory requirements.They were speaking at ‘Expanding Business Beyond Horizons — Compliance/Global Taxation’ at the APTA Katalyst.Chairman Dr. Subbu Kota said that the event was a platform to increase entrepreneurship and generate business transactions worth ₹5 lakh crore in the future.“Wealth can only be created by great ideas and entrepreneurship,” Dr. Kota said.Among other aspects like panel discussions, what stood out was a competition in which 16 start-ups pitched their ideas. With a focus on rural entrepreneurship, the competition attracted 10 rural-based teams, four of which qualified for the finals.Meanwhile, venture capitalists like Aroa Ventures and SucSeed pledged up to $10 million for investment-worthy ideas. The top three winners, whose names will be announced on the final day, will be richer by ₹2.5 lakh, ₹1.5 lakh and ₹one lakh, respectively.Discussions on renewable energy, real estate, and women in business drew further attention. Renewable energy experts stressed India’s need for innovative solutions, with Maurya Pydah of Greenko sharing insights on utilising five per cent of India’s wasteland for solar energy.The speakers asked young entrepreneurs to explore bio-fuels and renewable energy components as viable investment avenues.The real estate panel highlighted consumer preferences post-Covid-19, with the demand rising for villas and spacious homes in the city outskirts.Umesh Kunapureddy of Lansum Properties spoke about the rising trend of mixed-use developments, while K. Murli Krishna of Cybercity Builders stated that urban congestion was a pressing issue.Another engaging session centred on empowering women in business.Rohini Naidu, founder of The Girl Foundation (TGF), stressed the importance of communication skills, branding, and active listening and the three Cs of communication-clarity, confidence and conciseness.Ratnavali Kalluri of RAD Studio shared her journey of self-branding through digital tools, while Suvarna Chalamalsetti focused on the importance of social style and versatility in professional growth. The conference agenda also includes technology, green energy, semiconductors and skill development.
