BHOPAL: Mount Everest conqueror Megha Parmar, who joined the Congress on May 9, has been dropped as brand ambassador of the MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation Limited’s (MPSCDF) Sanchi brand. The development came six days after she was dropped by the state government’s Women and Child Development ministry as brand ambassador of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign.
“My brother in Bhopal received correspondence from the MPSCDF on that my contract with them as brand ambassador for the Sanchi brand of products is being terminated,” the 28-year-old mountaineer told this newspaper on Tuesday.
The contract had been signed in August 2022. “No reason has been given to me for terminating the contract, despite my dedicated work to perform the role as brand ambassador for the Sanchi brand right to the level of individual dairy farmers. All this is happening since I joined Congress,” she said.
“I’m the proud daughter of a farmer and have been helping him in dairy farming since my childhood. I know its nitty-gritty, due to which I was religiously working for the promotion of the Sanchi brand, right from encouraging farmers and small dairies in individual villages to give their milk produce to the state cooperative federation only.
I had also worked with the federation in re-starting a scheme aimed at promoting the birth of girls, under which parents of every newborn girl child would be gifted Sanchi ghee, thus establishing an integral bond between the girl child and the Sanchi brand. I don’t know why the contract which was valid for three years has been terminated suddenly. It’s possibly because of the fact that I joined the Congress,” she said. “I’ve worked with everyone in the villages as a young sports icon, irrespective of political ideology. Why am I now targeted,” she questioned.
