Kakinada: Former MLA of Kakinada Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy urged Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to investigate the root causes of the illegal Public Distribution System (PDS) rice transportation and address them. However, he emphasised that Kalyan should not tarnish the reputation of Kakinada Port, which is renowned for rice exports. Reddy noted that during his tenure as MLA (2019-2024), he worked tirelessly to attract rice exporters to the anchorage port, resulting in 98 per cent of the port’s revenue. He accused the alliance government, particularly Pawan Kalyan, of damaging the port’s image out of personal vendetta against his family, leading to cargo being diverted to other ports. Reddy also criticised the current MLA, Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao (Kondababu), for alleged corrupt practices, including extorting money from liquor shops and pressuring contractors for bribes. He called for an inquiry into these issues, proposing an investigation by the Special Investigation Team or CBI.
