Hyderabad: A MDMA racket busted by the Kerala police found links to a drug manufacturing facility at Kukatpally in Hyderabad and a special police team from Thrissur came to Hyderabad and arrested one Narasimha Raju, the alleged owner of Kukatpally’s drug manufacturing facility. Raju is reportedly having links with the film industry. When contacted, Thrissur Police Chief Ilango R confirmed Deccan Chronicle the arrest of Raju on Friday. In all, three Telugu speaking persons including two from Hyderabad were arrested. Raju was one among the three persons, he said. The facility operating in an industrial estate in Hyderabad was found to be manufacturing large quantities of drugs. The chemicals used to make MDMA were seized during the laboratory tests conducted with the help of the scientific personnel of the Thrissur Regional Forensic Science Lab, according to police. The police said the factory had modern foreign equipment that shocked even the police. The drugs were manufactured under the guise of drugs to treat diseases affecting the bladder and kidney organs. He has been into the business for over two decades and has been exporting chemical products to foreign countries. It is suspected that he may have distributed drugs in the film industry as well. The investigation into the distribution of drugs abroad and in the film industry is in progress, according to police. According to police, on July 2, 2024, the police first caught a person in possession of MDMA in the Ollur police station limits of Thrissur City. After questioning, the police found two-and-a half kilos of drugs in the residence. In further investigation, the three persons, who gave him drugs, were arrested from Bengaluru by the investigation team and the Thrissur Anti-Narcotics Force. On coming to know that drugs were brought from Hyderabad, an investigation team reached Hyderabad and arrested the person who gave them drugs. Information about the drug manufacturing facility in Hyderabad and its owner was also obtained from the accused and later he was also detained.
