VIJAYAWADA: In a pioneering move for the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, Gandham Chandrudu, MD of Swachh Andhra Corporation, unveiled the integration of drone technology to enhance cleanliness efforts across Andhra Pradesh. This initiative marks the first use of drones in the state’s urban sanitation drive.Chandrudu announced the commencement of this innovative pilot project on Tuesday across several municipal corporations including Tirupati, Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, and Nellore. In collaboration with AP Drones Corporation, these drones will primarily identify unhygienic areas and garbage accumulations, facilitating targeted sanitation operations. The drones will not only assist in locating and monitoring cleanliness tasks but also play a crucial role in post-cleanup assessments, ensuring that community service efforts meet the desired cleanliness standards. This technology will also extend to overseeing other government initiatives until October 2, aiming to improve service delivery through real-time monitoring.Additionally, Chandrudu highlighted the intent to utilise drone-collected data for ongoing and future cleanliness campaigns. Efforts are underway to integrate this data with a dedicated Swachhta Hi Seva portal by the Government of India, allowing for continuous updates and enhancements in sanitation strategies.
