Dell has cut jobs inorder to focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the company has not mention specific numbers. The cuts were made in sales and marketing divisions.The layoffs were announced to the employees in an internal memo by the executives of Dell Bill Scannell and John Byrne, reported Bloomberg.According to reports, the company will layoff around 12,500 people. As of February, Dell had about 1,20,000 employees and if the reports are accurate, then this layoff will amount to 10 per cent of the workforce.“We are getting leaner. We’re streamlining layers of management and reprioritizing where we invest,” said sales executives Bill Scannell and John Byrne in a memo to Dell employees.“We aim to grow faster than the market by seamlessly meeting our customers and partners online, virtually, or in person, to unlock the value of modern IT and AI for their organizations,” added the executives.In 2023, Dell announced a major workforce reduction where 13,000 employees lost their jobs.Last week, American chip maker Intel announced plans to layoff 15,000 employees this year in a bid to cut costs amid mounting losses.
