Cyber crooks dupe govt employee of Rs 1.34 lakh

Yadadri-Bhongir: A senior assistant at the MPDO office in Athmakur (M) mandal, K. Narender Reddy, fell victim to cyber fraud and lost Rs 1.34 lakh after being duped in a credit card scam. The incident occurred when Reddy received a video call from an person posing as a representative of a nationalised bank. During the call, the fraudster collected Reddy’s personal and bank details under the pretext of processing a credit card application. The scammer convinced him to share the OTP sent to his phone, claiming it was mandatory for the application process. Moments later, Rs 1.34 lakh was withdrawn from Reddy’s bank account. Following a complaint from the victim, the Athmakur(S) police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
