A self-proclaimed cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi has been arrested in connection with the Nuh violence.

Ahead of the August 1 communal clashes, a few triggering videos on social media by Monu Monesar, who is absconding in the Bhiwani double-murder case and another Bajrang Dal leader Bittu Bajrangi, set the stages for the Nuh violence, according to a report.

On August 1, a first information report (FIR) was registered against Bittu Bajrangi over the viral video where he was seen in saffron attire with a song with threatening lyrics playing in the background, a report said.

Six people, including two home guards and a cleric, died in the clashes that erupted in Muslim-dominated Nuh when a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession was attacked by mobs.

The BJP government in Haryana moved bulldozers to the Muslim-dominated Nuh after the region witnessed communal clashes. Around 150 migrant families lost their shelters as bulldozers razed their shanties on August 4. Swarajya put the number of shanties razed to the ground as 250. They were called “illegal encroachments.”

Over 200 people have been arrested so far and 80 taken into preventive detention in connection with the communal clashes in Haryana, state Home Minister Anil Vij had said.
