A court in Kolkata on Monday afternoon pronounced the sentence for Sanjay Roy, who has been convicted of raping and murdering an on-duty doctor at the state-run R G Kar Medical College and Hospital here.Sealdah court Judge Anirban Das said it is not the rarest of rare case, and sentenced Sanjay Roy for life term. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000.The Court has also directed the state of West Bengal to pay a compensation of Rs 7 lakh to RG Kar the doctor’s family, following Sanjay Roy’s life sentence.Sanjay Roy, former civic volunteer with Kolkata Police, brought to court for sentence amid tight security.(Further details awaited)
