Congress Putting Conditions on Rythu Bharosa, Says Kishan

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy said that the Congress government was trying to put a number of conditions to prevent farmers and farm workers from accessing the Rythu Bharosa farmer assistance programme.Kishan Reddy told mediapersons that the government had all the information about land under cultivation by farmers in each village and number of farm workers involved in agriculture operations, but still trying to seek the information by asking farmers to furnish the information. “This is just gimmick and intended to misguide and cheat the farmers and farm workers,” he said.Kishan Reddy pointed out that the state government had imposed similar conditions before the farm loan waiver. The Congress in its `Warangal Rythu Declaration’ had announced Rs 15,000 to farmers and Rs 12,000 to farm workers and Rs 500 additional bonus on 10 crops. The government has not yet released assistance for the Kharif and current Rabi season, he said.Kishan Reddy charged that the Congress government was denying PM Fasal Bima Yojana by the Centre to farmers, just like the earlier BRS governmentClaiming that the Modi government was providing `33,000 crore subsidy annually on fertilisers in Telangana, Kishan Reddy said that each farmer was benefiting by `19,000 due to subsidised urea and DAP per acre. On a 45-kg urea bag which costs `2,503, the Centre was bearing a subsidy of `2,236, and the farmer had to pay `267. Similarly, for 50-kg DAP bags, the farmer was paying `1,311 against the price of `3,771 with the Centre is bearing the subsidy of `2,422, he said.
