Hyderabad:Congress Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy demanded swift action from the Centre to address the devastation caused by heavy rain and floods in Telangana. He called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the state and assess the situation firsthand, and criticised the lack of urgency in the Centre’s response.”The Centre should immediately release the financial package to Telangana under the national calamity fund,” Kiran Kumar Reddy urged. He accused Union minister Kishan Reddy of merely making statements that confuse the public rather than providing clarity and relief. The Congress MP further claimed that internal conflicts within the BRS are being deflected onto Congress workers. “There are two groups in BRS, and when they fight in Khammam, they file cases against Congress workers,” he alleged, questioning the whereabouts of the eight BJP MPs who won with BRS’s support. In a separate press conference, TPCC working president T. Jayaprakash ‘Jagga’ Reddy highlighted the Congress’ commitment to education. He emphasised that Congress has always prioritised education, particularly for poor students, laying the foundations for educational institutions like IITs. “From Nehru to Rahul Gandhi, Congress has consistently encouraged education,” he stated, praising the party’s legacy in developing the sector.Jagga Reddy criticised the BRS government for neglecting the education sector during its ten-year rule. “KCR promised free education from KG to PG, but he did not keep his word. Poor students were deprived of education, and government schools lack facilities,” he said. He pointed out that the few existing facilities in government schools were established by the Congress, not by the BRS government.
