NIZAMABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy paid his last respects to senior Congress leader D Srinivas, popularly known as DS, in Nizamabad today.In his speech, CM Revanth Reddy highlighted the significant contributions of Srinivas to the Congress party. As PCC chief, he was instrumental in leading the Congress to victory in the 2004 Assembly elections. Under his leadership, the Congress secured power again in the 2009 elections.Srinivas began his political career as a student leader, gradually rising to prominent positions within the Congress party. Despite a period of estrangement from the party, Sonia Gandhi always greeted the senior leader warmly in Parliament.DS was known for his humble approach to politics, often stating that he never aspired to hold positions. His wish to have the Congress flag draped over him at his death has been honored. Numerous important leaders paid homage to the departed leader.The Congress party has pledged to support DS’s family during this time. CM Revanth Reddy mentioned that discussions will be held with the family to undertake some work in memory of Srinivas. The passing of the senior Congress leader is a significant loss for the party.
