Huzurnagar: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday visited the Indiramma Housing Colony at Ramaswamy Gutta in Huzurnagar town to review progress on a long-pending housing project aimed at providing homes to economically disadvantaged families.Launched during the 2013–14 fiscal year under the then housing minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy in the united Andhra Pradesh, the Indiramma Housing Scheme was designed to deliver 2,160 units. Construction stalled for several years, but works resumed after the Congress came to power in the state, with an allocation of Rs 60 crore to complete the project.During his inspection, the Chief Minister examined the near-finished state of the 2,160 houses, which are spread across 135 blocks comprising eight G+1 buildings in each block, with 16 flats in every building. He also viewed a photo exhibition detailing the colony’s development. District collector Tejas Nandlal Pawar presented updates on the ongoing construction and explained the substantial progress made over the past year and a half.Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed officials to expedite the completion of the project, emphasising the need to ensure that all remaining work is carried out swiftly to make the homes available to beneficiaries. It is learned that the Indiramma Housing Colony remained largely dormant during the previous 10-year BRS government.Spending around 15 minutes at the site, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction with the current pace of construction. He was accompanied by Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, and Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. Further announcements on the project’s official handover are expected as the final stages of construction progress.
