BENGALURU: A couple of days before Lokayukta, Mysuru wing submits final report to the High Court of Karnataka over its investigation into Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) plot allotments irregularities against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his family members, it was reported on Thursday over Kannada news channels that the investigating agency has given a clean chit to Chief Minister and his wife B.M. Parvathi. Siddaramaiah is accused 1 in the First Information Report of Lokayukta, Mysuru wing. The sleuths of Lokayukta are to file its final report of its investigation to the High Court in a couple of days before the High Court on January 27 pronounce its order on transferring the investigation from Lokayukta to the sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). It is said that the Lokayukta investigation could not establish the role of Siddaramaiah and his family members in 14 plots allotted by MUDA which came under probe over alleged irregularities. It is alleged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife B.M. Parvathi was allotted 14 plots by MUDA in a posh locality in Mysuru city in lieu of her losing 3.16 acres in Kesare in Mysuru taluk to MUDA. It is alleged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah influenced MUDA officials in plot allotments to his wife. Lokayukta began its investigation in September last year as per the order of High Court of Karnataka and Directorate of Enforcement (ED) sleuths began a parallel probe into the alleged plot distribution irregularities. Subsequently, CM’s wife B.M. Parvathi made a written request to MUDA that she voluntarily decided to surrender plots allotted to her by MUDA. It may be recalled here a petitioner and social activist Snehamayi Krishna asked the High Court to transfer the investigation to CBI for free and fair investigation in plot allotments to Chief Minister’s wife by MUDA officials. Snehamayi Krishna contended that Lokayukta falls under the State Government and a fair probe cannot be expected from the institution. He felt the situation demands for a fair probe possible through a CBI probe. Reacting to the reported clean chit to Siddaramaiah by Lokayukta, Snehamayi Krishna stated to continue his fight to seek CBI investigation in MUDA plot allotment irregularities to Chief Minister’s wife. If it is to be believed that Lokayukta sleuths have given clean chit to Chief Minister, State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra stated “Our doubts on Lokayukta investigation have come true.” Vijayendra alleged Siddaramaiah exercised his influence as a Chief Minister over Lokayukta probe and by allegedly wielding his influence, Siddaramaiah has caused a “black spot” on the State’s history. Leader of Opposition in Assembly R. Ashoka doubted Lokayukta giving clean chit to Chief Minister and stated “Only an investigation by CBI will bring out the truth.”
