PATNA: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP-Ram Vilas) chief and MP Chirag Paswan’s differences with his uncle and union minister Pashupati Kumar Paras have apparently increased with the former returning to the NDA. Since there are no signs of a thaw between Chirag and Paras, BJP seems to be in a fix with both leaders staking claiming to the Paswan family’s traditional Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency in the state.NDA has received a boost ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election after Chirag joined the unit, which is believed to have good support from around six per cent of Paswan voters in Bihar.
Soon after attending the NDA allies meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday, Chirag said that BJP had considered all his concerns positively and claimed that NDA would win all the 40 seats in Bihar in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. He said that he had no problem with BJP but had snapped ties with the NDA in 2020 as Bihar chief minister and JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar was in the alliance at that time. He said that his party was also opposed to Nitish’s policies.
Chirag who represents Jamui Lok Sabha constituency said that his father and LJP supremo Ram Vilas Paswan had decided to quit NDA after Nitish had returned in 2017. At the time, PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had told his father that his party’s alliance was with BJP and not JD (U). Meanwhile, Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), another faction of LJP led by Kumar Paras, has reacted sharply to Chirag returning to the NDA fold. He, however, said that everybody had the right to contest the election from whichever seat he wanted.
