Centre summons Bangladesh envoy a day after Dhaka calls in Indian diplomat



Centre on Monday summoned Bangladesh’s Deputy High Commissioner, Nural Islam, to address escalating tensions along the India-Bangladesh border. The move came a day after Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma to raise concerns over the matter.According to news agency ANI, Nural Islam was seen leaving South Block after being called by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).The tensions have risen following allegations from Dhaka that India is attempting to construct fences at five locations along the shared border, a move Bangladesh claims violates a bilateral agreement. This issue has heightened diplomatic engagement between the two neighbours.(Updates to follow)
