Adilabad: The BRS’ Rythu Athmahatyala Adhyayana Committee, chaired by former agriculture minister S. Niranjan Reddy, toured villages in Adilabad district on Friday to meet families of recently deceased farmers, including Jadhav Devrao and Ade Gajanand. The committee sought to understand the circumstances behind the suicides and engaged with affected families in Reniguda, Gudihathnoor, Yapalguda, and Ramai villages.Reddy alleged that nearly 400 farmers have committed suicide under the current Congress administration due to broken promises and ineffective policies. He emphasised that the tour aims to build trust and prevent further tragedies, not to gain political advantage. The committee plans to submit a comprehensive report on the agricultural distress in Telangana to party president K. Chandrashekar Rao, Union agriculture minister, and ICAR Delhi.Committee members, including Jogu Ramanna and Bajireddy Govardhan, criticised the Congress government for failing to implement farmer-centric schemes, citing mounting debts and inadequate support as key factors driving farmers to extreme measures. The delegation included former ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and senior leaders committed to advocating for meaningful changes to support Telangana’s farming community.
