HYDERABAD: The BRS on Tuesday demanded “the immediate constitution of a judicial commission led by a sitting High Court judge” to investigate the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel accident.“The tunnel collapse is a result of gross negligence by the Congress government. The government allowed tunnel construction without necessary approvals from Geological Survey of India (GSI) experts, in a shocking display of incompetence and inexperience,” Rama Rao said. “Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is responsible for the disaster with his focus on election campaigns over relief efforts,” the BRS leader added.“The government’s recklessness by allowing restarting of the work in the tunnel project without technical studies or GSI approval, directly endangered lives and public money. If the Congress government didn’t do any technical study before restarting the project and carelessly put lives and public funds at risk, it has no one to blame but itself,” Rama Rao said.Rama Rao, expressing deep concern over the fate of the eight workers trapped inside the tunnel for more than three days with no progress being made to locate them, questioned the slow pace of rescue operations.
