Berhampore: Two student boys were severely injured in a bomb explosion in the tense Samsergunj area on Wednesday morning.Police sources reported that the blast occurred in Chaksapur village, adjacent to the volatile Dhuliyan, which recently witnessed sporadic violence during Waqf protests resulting in three deaths, numerous injuries, and the destruction of houses and shops.According to sources, the two student victims were en route to their private coaching centre and took a shortcut through a nearby mango grove. Suddenly, a concealed bomb, hidden under dry mango leaves, detonated, leaving both boys with critical bomb injuries and lying in pools of blood.Locals rushed to their aid, initially admitting them to Jangipur hospital. Due to the severity of their condition, they were later transferred to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital. However, police dismissed the incident as isolated, claiming that someone had hidden crude bombs in the mango grove which accidentally exploded. Nevertheless, the police have launched an inquiry, cordoned off the mango grove, and seized several live crude bombs from the area. Despite the recent Waqf-related violence in Dhuliyan and other villages in Samsergunj, police maintained that Chaksapur village had remained peaceful.
