Warangal: BJP state executive member Errabelli Pradeep Rao and district unit president Ganta Ravi Kumar called for the prominent display of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s portrait in all ration shops during a visit on Saturday. The leaders, who toured several outlets distributing subsidised rice in Warangal, criticised the practice of featuring portraits of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and minister for civil supplies N. Uttam Kumar Reddy instead. The BJP representatives argued that since the Central government supplies 5 kg of rice per ration cardholder — compared to the state’s additional 1 kg — the contribution of the Centre should be visibly recognised. “It is the Central government that provides the bulk of the subsidised rice, and its contribution deserves acknowledgment,” they asserted. They also highlighted the success of the “One Nation, One Ration Card” scheme initiated by Modi and warned that if their demand is not met, a large-scale protest would follow. Additionally, the BJP leaders accused the state government of exaggerating its role and criticised the Congress for repeating what they described as the mistakes of the previous TRS government, alleging that both are misleading the public regarding the benefits provided by the Central government.
