Bengaluru: The leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday tried to storm into the office of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) in Kushalnagar town in Kodagu district demanding police to include Congress MLAs A.S. Ponnanna and Mantar Gowda along with other accused in the First Information Report (FIR) holding them responsible for the death of its party functionary Vinay Sommaiah. The final rites of Vinay Somaiah were performed at his native place Kushalnagar of Kodagu on Saturday.It may be recalled here Vinay Somaiah, an employee in a private firm, allegedly committed suicide over alleged torture to him at his residence in Bengaluru. On the final rites of Vinay, State BJP president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra, Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha member Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, among other leaders were taken into custody by Kushalnagar police when they tried to lay siege to the office of DySP. The BJP leaders demanded inclusion of A.S. Ponnanna and Manthar Gowda in the FIR over the death of Vinay Somaiah.Vijayendra alleged Vinay Somaiah was hurt after a First Information Report (FIR) against him was registered over his posts on social networking sites over the reported failure of Congress MLAs- Ponnanna and Manthar Gowda in addressing public grievances.Police registered an FIR against Vinay Somaiah. Despite, having stay on the FIR against him and bail granted, yet, Police reached his residence in Bengaluru and unable tolerate alleged torture to him, Vijayendra alleged Vinay Somaiah took the drastic step to end his life on Friday.Vijayendra alleged Vinay Somaiah on his mobile post stated the reason for him to take the extreme step along with names which included Congress MLAs-Ponnanna and Manthar Gowda and two other Congress functionaries. Yet police have not included Ponnanna and Manthar Gowda as accused in the death of Vinay.Congress MLA and legal advisor to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, A.S. Ponnanna stated the alleged torture to Vinay Somaiah is said to have taken place in February and now it is April. If he underwent torture, then, he should have brought it to the notice of the Court or to senior police officers but nothing such steps were taken by Vinay Somaiah.MLA Manthar Gowda suspected any attempt has been made to lower his image in the society by levelling false allegations against him and doubted a political conspiracy hatched by his political rivals.
