BC hostel students decry poor conditions

HYDERABAD: Students from a BC hostel in P&T Colony, Dilsukhnagar, staged a street protest on Thursday, decrying poor-quality food, unhygienic conditions and the lack of basic amenities. Holding their food plates, they voiced frustration over the hostel’s deteriorating state, which they claim has been neglected for weeks.“The rice is bad, the food is bad, even the vegetables are bad,” a student complained. Others pointed to broken bathrooms, water supply issues and long-pending repairs. “It’s been a month since the repairs were done but nothing has changed,” another student said.Despite repeated complaints, students alleged that authorities have ignored their concerns. Some even hinted at mismanagement, sarcastically remarking, “This is our kingdom. We rob our kingdom.”The hostel primarily accommodates students from economically weaker backgrounds who rely on government support. With no response from officials, students say they had no choice but to take their grievances to the streets.
