VIJAYAWADA: The state-level Energy Conservation Mission has felicitated the best performers in the ‘energy conservation and energy efficiency’ endeavour with awards to various government and private sector entities.Awards were also presented to the winners in the schools-level short video competition on energy conservation, as part of the national Energy Conservation Week from December14 to 20.The awards were distributed at the valedictory function of the celebrations organised by APSECM here on Friday.Special chief secretary to Energy, K Vijayanand was the chief guest. APGENCO managing director Chakradhar Babu and CMD of the entity Pattanshetti Ravi presented the awards for the year to those that have shown excellence in the area of energy efficiency under the sectors of buildings, industries and institutions.The gold category award-winners were the SEIL Energy India, Nelaturu under the thermal power plants sector; Mohan Spintex India, Bapulapadu, Krishna district under the textiles sector; the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Visakhapatnam under iron & steel sector; the Electric Traction Centre Vijayawada, the central, government, the SCR Vijayawada under buildings category; the Railway hospital Guntakal-South Central Railway,Guntakal under hospitals sector; the Sattenapalli bus depot under the APSRTC bus depots; the Tadipatri municipality under ‘Institutions’.The Silver category: The Simhadri super thermal power station, Parwada under thermal power plants sector; Ravali spinners of East Godavari district under textiles sector; the Arjas steels of Tadipatri -Anantapur, under iron & steel sector; the Rail Vikas Bhavan, Guntur, SCR Guntur division, under government buildings sector; the Vijayawada Railway Hospital under hospitals sector; the Visakhapatnam bus depot in APSRTC bus depots sector; and the Vizianagaram municipal corporation under lnstitutions sector.Vijayanand congratulated the winners and presented awards to winning students in the short video competition for school children on the concepts of energy conservation and energy efficiency. He praised the students for directing their skill and creativity towards energy conservation. He also hailed APSECM for its efforts in achieving the national energy conservation Award-2024.The SCS, Energy, said, “The state government has set a target of generating 76gw of renewable energy for the next five years.”Appreciating the winners of SECA-2024 and school students, Chakradhar Babu urged students to use only BEE Star rated energy efficient appliances in their homes and educate their family members to use electricity and water judiciously.
