AP Records 83% Pass in Inter Second Year, 70% in First Year

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh has registered a pass percentage of 83 in second year and 70 in first year of the Intermediate public examinations, results of which education and IT minister Nara Lokesh released here on Saturday.Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu tweeted in a social media post saying, “My heartiest congratulations to all the intermediate students in AP who have passed with flying colours today. Delighted to see a historic decade-high rise in the pass percentage in government junior colleges, which secured 69 pass percentage in second year and 47 in first year, a rise of 11 per cent and 9 per cent respectively.” “Our game-changing reforms introduced in the education sector, like free textbooks and notebooks distribution, mid-day meals, centralised assessments and monitoring, new timings, 100-day success programme, class-wise WhatsApp groups and caretaker system have done wonders for students in AP,” the CM underlined. In his tweet, Nara Lokesh said, “AP has recorded the highest pass percentage in this year’s results. This achievement is a testament to the hard work of students and junior lecturers, apart from focused efforts of all stakeholders towards academic excellence. In gender-wise results of the general category, second year girl students scored the highest pass percentage of 86 as against boys’ 80. In the first year too, girls scored the highest pass percentage of 75 against the boys’ 66. When seen management-wise, pass percentage in second year at BC Residential Junior College is 97, followed by AP Residential Junior College 96 and AP Social Welfare Residential College 94. Group-wise, the pass percentage of second year students pursuing MPC is 86, followed by 83 per cent of both BiPC and MEC groups. District-wise top three performers in second year general category are Krishna 93 per cent, Guntur 91 per cent and NTR 89 per cent. Alluri Seetharama Raju district scored the lowest pass percentage of 73. For the first time in the last 10 years, AP registered the highest pass percentage in both the second and first year exams during 2025. In general category, the second year pass percentage is 83 and first year 70, as against 78 and 67 respectively in 2024, 72 and 61 in 2023, 61 and 54 in 2022, 59 and 59 in 2020, 68 and 60 in 2019, 69 and 62 in 2018, 73 and 64 in 2017, 69 and 68 in 2016, 67 and 63 in 2015 and 66 and 59 in 2014. Board of Intermediate Education authorities have said both the first and second year students can apply for recounting and supply of scanned copy cum reverification of valued answer scripts from April 13 to April 22. Supplementary exams will be held from May 12 to May 20 in two sessions, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Students can appear in failed subjects for improvement in marks. Practical exams will be held from May 28 to June 1 only at the district headquarters.
