Kakinada: The Andhra Pradesh Government Employees Association’s state president K. Suryanarayana said the Andhra government owed an accumulated Rs 25,000 crore to its employees towards their salaries.Participating in the Kakinada district council meeting of the association on Sunday, he said in view of the state’s financial position, he requested the government to release even one DA out of three DAs to the employees.Suryanarayana said a high level tribunal be constituted to sort out the employees’ problems. The government has to pay Rs 6,500 crore towards salaries to the employees and other benefits have to be released, he stated.He said the employees are aware of the state’s financial situation. However, the government should make a law to pay salaries to employees every month without fail, he added.Suryanarayana said on January 19, 2023, he had submitted a representation to AP Governor about making an Act to credit salaries of employees in time. In its budget meeting in November, 2024, the state government had revealed owing Rs 25,000 crore worth of arrears to its employees.The 14th pay commission should be headed by a retired judge and service rules and regulations be amended, he demanded.
