Americans voted for US polls from Hyderabad

Hyderabad: American citizens residing in India had until October 4 to submit their ballots for Tuesday’s US elections. With the help of the Federal Voting Assistance Programme (FVAP), they were able to exercise their voting rights by using a drop box at the US Consulate in Hyderabad. The FVAP helps American voters request, receive, and return their absentee ballots, ensuring that they can participate in elections despite being overseas.The US Consulate in Hyderabad took steps to make voting easier for Americans living in India, hosting an information session in August to guide voters through the process. This session covered key information, such as registering to vote and filling out the necessary forms. The consulate staff also explained how to drop off ballots securely.After completing their ballots, voters could drop them in a designated ballot box at the consulate. Consulate officials said that once the voting was completed, the ballots were securely dispatched to Washington, for final processing. From there, each ballot would be sent to the respective states for counting, ensuring every vote reached its intended destination in the United States.Sebastian, an American who has been living in Hyderabad for work for six months, said “Although I am living in a different country than my own, I voted.
