Ambedkar Museum Opens to Public

Hyderabad: Over 30,000 people visited the museum at the statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar at NTR Marg along the Hussainsagar on Monday, after it was inaugurated to mark his birth anniversary. An HMDA official said the museum, featuring vignettes from the life of the Father of the Constitution, would remain open for a month. After that, it would be closed for an upgrade.Though the statue was inaugurated two years ago by then Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, the BRS government did not open the museum.Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, along with ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Damodar Rajanarsimha, inaugurated the facility after paying tribute to Dr Ambedkar.Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, HMDA commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmad and others paid homage to Dr Ambedkar. They inspected the artworks and photographs in the museum and saw an audiovisual presentation made on Dr Ambedkar’s life in the museum.Visitors explored the curated exhibits highlighting the life and legacy of the architect of the Indian Constitution. The museum hall echoed with slogans of “Zor Se Bolo Zor Se Bolo, Jai Bhim Jai Bhim.”Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Ashok Kumar, a resident of Sitaphalmandi, said, “The artworks are very nicely made. Every piece shows a different story and meaning about Babasaheb.” Sai Navya, another visitor, said, “I brought my daughter to show and teach her what problems Dr Ambedkar faced, what he did for the benefit of our nation and what he achieved. The photographs gave a detailed description of his life.”Art students from across the city contributed to the exhibits. Students from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Bonfire Institute of Design, Ashoka School of Planning and Architecture and other colleges created and submitted artworks for the museum.Among them, R. Vamshi Krishna and his team from Ashoka School of Planning and Architecture created a unique perspective-based artwork using boxes. “Every box represents a struggle Babasaheb faced and how he overcame them and rose to the top,” he explained.
