HYDERABAD: Leading the way in digital healthcare, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bibinagar, stands out as top hospital in Telangana in ‘Scan and Share’ service, said Union minister of coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy. The Scan and Share service is a digital initiative under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) in India, designed to streamline outpatient department (OPD) registrations by leveraging mobile technology and QR codes. This service aims to reduce waiting times and enhance patient experience by facilitating paperless registration and secure sharing of health records. “By leveraging digital technology, the institute is delivering seamless healthcare services, saving time, enhancing patient privacy and security and ensuring easy access to medical records. The system works with patients giving an option for scanning a unique QR code displayed at the hospital using a health app linked to their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA). With consent, patients can share their health records stored in the ABHA, allowing healthcare providers access to their medical history. The system minimises manual data entry errors and improves administrative efficiency,” Kishan Reddy said in a statement. The digital services in Ayushman Bharat hospitals are designed to improve healthcare delivery, patient experience and operational efficiency, whereas Electronic Health Records (EHRs) are maintained with a patient’s medical and treatment history. Maintaining the digital health records also helps in providing telemedicine through remote consultations and monitoring to expand access to healthcare services. The AIIMS, Bibinagar is maintaining digital healthcare by managing hospital operations, including patient registration, billing and inventory management. Beside Scan and Share, services like Scan and Pay for direct payment of medical bills and Scan and Send for sharing health records are being integrated. These digital services are integral to modernise healthcare infrastructure, enhancing patient satisfaction and improving healthcare outcomes.
