Hyderabad:A local court on Monday convicted a minor boy of raping a minor girl and ordered him to undergo two years of community service at a special home in Gajularamaram. Judge T. Madhavi, Fifth Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate at Nampally, also ordered the payment of Rs 1 lakh as victim compensation.While pursuing a missing complaint registered by the girl’s mother on June 8, 2022, police found that the girl had eloped with a minor boy from her school. They found that the juvenile had feelings for the girl after being exposed to pornography. Though she refused initially, she eventually reciprocated his feelings, and they both started communicating and meeting.When the girl’s parents found their relationship, they objected to it. With the help of the juvenile’s mother, they left the city in May 2022 to his maternal grandfather’s house in Karnataka. They got married in Karnataka, and the girl became pregnant.When the juvenile’s mother alerted them about the police intensifying their search, they moved to Pune, where they lived in a rented house, working to support themselves. However, the police eventually tracked them down in January 2023 and brought them back to Hyderabad.DNA matching confirmed the juvenile as the biological father. Medical examination and the victim’s statement confirmed the sexual assault. He was found guilty under the Pocso Act.Senior loses Rs 3 lakh to lottery scamHyderabad:A 76-year-old pensioner from the city was duped of `3,18,148 in a lottery scam, after being lured by an advertisement on a social media site, according to city cybercrimes unit ACP R.G. Siva Maruthi.“When he clicked on the advertisement, it redirected him to a WhatsApp number. Shortly, the fraudster contacted him and explained him about a lottery draw was purportedly taking place in Kerala,” Maruthi said. The victim bought three tickets. A few days later, the fraudster sent a message to the victim that stated that he won `5 lakh and `12 lakh on two tickets.Subsequently, the fraudster, contacting the victim from different numbers, informed him that the prize money could not be deposited into his account unless he paid certain charges. The fraudster assured him that these amounts would be refunded along with the prize money, the ACP said.Believing the fraudster, the victim transferred money on multiple occasions. However, when the fraudster continued to demand additional payments, the victim refused to pay and filed an online complaint, seeking help to recover his lost money.Man Arrested for Harassing HomemakerHyderabad:Police arrested one M. Naveen, for allegedly harassing a homemaker and threatening to throw acid on her after she refused to maintain physical relations with him has been arrested by Jubilee Hills police. Based on the victim’s complaint, police said she had stopped going to work because of Naveen’s alleged harasement.Police said Naveen was pressuring the victim to leave her family and start living with him, a police officer said. Naveen was booked for criminal intimidation and character assassination.Bangladeshi Held With Fake DocumentsHyderabad:The Pocharam IT Corridor police a house in Venkata Sai Premnagar and arrested Md Rashel, a 31-year-old Bangladeshi national, for staying illegally and possessing fake Indian documents. Police said Rashel was working in a private firm for five years. With the help of facilitators he had secured forged and fabricated documents showing him as a resident of Venkata Sai Premnagar, IT Pocharam sub-inspector M. Shiva Krishna said. Police seized two mobile phones, Aadhaar, voter and PAN cards, Covid-19 vaccination certificate, and a Bangladeshi voter card from Rashel. A case under the Foreigners Act was registered and Rashel was produced before a court for judicial remand.
